What’s New in Salesforce: Straight From Dreamforce 2026

Every September, Salesforce uses its Dreamforce conference to set the tone for the year ahead — and this year’s big theme was making AI agents feel less like a bolt-on feature and more like a genuine member of the team.

A few of the headline announcements worth knowing about, even if you’re not deep in the Salesforce weeds:

AI is moving into the tools you already use. Salesforce announced a new layer called AIforce, designed to bring the platform’s data, workflows and permissions into everyday AI tools — including Claude and Slack — without needing to log into a traditional Salesforce screen. Crucially, it’s built to work within the access controls and business logic you’ve already got set up — so it’s extending your existing setup rather than creating a new, separate way in.

AI agents are being trusted with bigger jobs. Salesforce also expanded its Agentforce agents, helping agents stick with longer, multi-step jobs instead of just answering one-off questions — working towards a goal over an extended period, picking up new capabilities as they go and collaborating with other agents rather than operating in isolation. One feature to watch: AI Skills in Agentforce Coworker, which let an employee teach the AI how to complete a task once, then scale that knowledge across the workforce — currently in pilot, with general release expected in October.

Pricing got simpler. For businesses weighing up whether AI features are worth it, Salesforce launched new Core, Advanced and Max editions that bundle Slack, Tableau, security and built-in AI into a single purchase rather than a pile of add-ons, which should make budgeting for it a lot less painful.

What this means for you: you don’t need to chase every new feature the moment it lands — most businesses get far more value from using the tools they already have properly than bolting on the newest shiny thing. But it’s worth knowing the direction of travel: Salesforce is betting heavily that AI agents will handle more of the repetitive, time-consuming work, freeing your team up for the parts that actually need a human.
